Marquette – Filmmakers John Major and Frida Waara will speak about their recent Antarctic adventures on Tuesday, February 15 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Major and Waara were in Antarctica in December working on a film about the challenges and obstacles created by cold, darkness, ice and weather patterns at Antarctica’s McMurdo Station and Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. While there, they conducted live video conferences with PWPL audiences about their experiences at the bottom of the world.
The film, titled “Condition One,” reveals the universality of the human spirit by comparing the experiences of the support staff at the Antarctic stations with the stark contrasts of inner city urban landscapes and the stories of the young people who live there.
This program is part of the Midwinter Storytelling Festival of events that celebrate the art of the well-told tale. For more information, visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
