Preparations are continuing for the annual Pigs N’ Heat charity hockey game next week in Marquette. This will be the 41st Anniversary game and it’s one week away, on Wednesday, March 19th at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeview Arena. The game features teams made up of Marquette County law enforcement and firefighters to raise funds for the Marquette County Fire Relief Fund.
What first began when Marquette City Police Officer Larry Grimsby, Michigan State Trooper Dave Rotteman, and Marquette City Firefighter Dan Dagenais wanted to raise money to assist a family with three young children whose home had just been lost to a fire. Flash forward 40 years; today the Pigs-N-Heat Charity hockey game draws between 2,500–3,000 people and raises approximately $15,000 to $20,000.

Organizer Brian Olson spoke about the details about the game with Mark & Walt in the Morning. Listen to the interview here.
