Marquette – The Laughing Whitefish Audubon Society will sponsor a program on the Keweenaw Raptor Survey on Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
The hawk counting project took place last spring on Brockway Mountain near Copper Harbor. Skye Haas, Greg Cleary and Zach Gayk will provide photos and accounts from this three-month survey during which nearly 10,000 hawks were counted. Data from this project will give a better understanding of migration in the western Upper Peninsula and contribute to the overall picture of raptor migration in the Lake Superior region.
