Ishpeming – The Marquette County Historical Society will present a program, “From Ski Jumping to Antipasto-Celebrating Ishpeming’s Ethnicity” on Thursday July 22 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Carnegie Public Library in Ishpeming.
Librarian Rosemary Michelin will bring original photographs, maps, diaries, ledgers and other primary documents from the John M. Longyear Research Library to illustrate the story of the many Cornish, Swedish, Italian, Finnish and other immigrants who settled in Ishpeming and made it such a diverse community. Some genealogy “how-to” will be given and the Carnegie Library staff will explain their local history collection.
A $5 donation is suggested for the program and the proceeds will benefit the Carnegie Public Library. For more information, contact the Marquette County History Museum at 226-3571
