Dick Derby, organizer of the Project Ishpeming Food Pantry food drive joined us to update us about the project. The effort featured the distribution of four thousand bags in the City of Ishpeming to be filled with non-perishable food items, paper products and various hygiene product. The plan was to then place the bags on the curb on Saturday morning to be picked up by volunteers. The effort was a smashing success with over 8-thousand pounds of food and other items collected from the community in one morning! The items have been distributed to the Ishpeming Salvation Army and St. Vincent dePaul food pantries.
