Marquette – In conjunction with the “Mostly Michigan” photography exhibit at the DeVos Art Museum at Northern Michigan University, NMU professor Christine Flavin will give a talk on the history of social documentary photography on Friday, April 9 at 2 p.m. in Room 165 of the NMU Art and Design Building.
From Henry Mayhew’s “London Labour and London Poor” of 1840 to Abu Ghraib of 2004, Flavin will discuss how the portrayal of the underprivileged has changed in the post-colonial political arena with digital and cell phone camera technology.
The “Mostly Michigan” exhibit is on display through May 16.
