Riders competed for a chance to become a BMX Michigan State Champion at North State BMX in the River Park Sports Complex in Marquette, Michigan on Sunday, May 25, 2008. Several local riders as well as some riders from Minnesota competed during the big points weekend. Local riders are required to race in at least one qualifier to be able to compete in August at the State finals for a Michigan State Champion title. The riders who do earn the title of State Champion in their age group at the finals in August are awarded a special number plate and State Champion embroidered backpack. Several local riders look to repeat as State Champions. Trevor Rochefort from Munising will be looking to repeat as State Champion in class and will be looking to capture the 14 year old title in cruiser from Brandon Jarvinen who has held the title for the past six years. Lindsey, Megan and Michael Noble will be looking to repeat as State Champions in class and cruiser. Gardner Bess, Alex Niemi, Michael Grange, Derek Smith, Dylan Bartol and Tessa Daugherty are all looking to repeat as well. More – External Link
