With 15 seconds left in the game, Garrett Pentecost caught a pass from freshman quarterback, Brad Meyers, then ran up the near side and broke through three tackles before scoring a touchdown to tie the Kingsford Flivvers at 40.
Marquette didn't score on their two-point conversion attempt and the game ended in a draw. Pentecost scored all six of the Redmen's touchdowns in the Marquette Senior High School freshman football opener at William Hart Stadium in Marquette on Thursday, August 28th.
Even though Pentecost was the star of the game, it was a total team effort. Several different Redmen made some great plays to bring this one to a tie.
Kingsford's reverse seemed to confuse the Redmen defense on a few key plays but they held strong and came through when they had to. Josh Bullock, Travis Prisk and Kasim Koonala led the defense in tackles.
