United Way of Marquette County Launches Free Tax Prep Service for Local Residents
Marquette, MI- United Way of Marquette County is excited to announce the launch of its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, offering free tax preparation services to low- to moderate- income individuals and families in Marquette County. This initiative helps the elderly, low-income, and disabled individuals file their tax returns, ensuring they maximize refunds and access all eligible tax credits.
The VITA program will be staffed by IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers and is available to individuals with annual incomes of roughly $67,000 or less, as well as persons with disabilities and limited English-speaking taxpayers needing assistance.
“We are thrilled to offer this important service to our community,” said Andrew Rickauer, Executive Director of United Way of Marquette County. “Our mission is to unite people, organizations, and resources to enhance the well-being of our community. Through this program, we can directly support our neighbors by providing the tax assistance they deserve–at no cost.”
Free Tax Preparation Services will be available at the following locations:
- Peter White Library in Marquette
- 906 Community Church in Sawyer
Additionally, for residents who are unable to visit in person, United Way of Marquette County offers a free online tax filing service. The easy-to-use platform allows individuals and families to file their federal and state taxes for free, with support available for those that qualify.
