Tourist Park in Marquette Reopens Ahead of Hiawatha Music Festival

Marquette, MI –

The City of Marquette is pleased to announce the reopening of Tourist Park beach for swimming as of Friday morning.

The beach was temporarily closed on Thursday due to elevated levels of bacteria, specifically E. coli, following recent heavy rainfall. The City promptly collected water samples on Thursday, which confirmed that bacteria levels had returned to safe standards.

The reopening comes just in time for the 44th annual Hiawatha Music Festival, which kicks off Friday evening at Tourist Park. Visitors can now enjoy swimming at the beach along with the festival’s festivities.

The City of Marquette thanks the community for their patience and cooperation during the closure and looks forward to a safe and enjoyable festival weekend.

For more information about the festival, please visit Hiawatha Music Festival’s website or follow them on social media.
