Sawyer International Airport Name Change

MARQUETTE, MI, March 24, 2023,

The administration is proud to announce that Sawyer International
Airport will be renamed as Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport. Staff is currently working with Federal and State agencies towards the completion of this transition. The County Board voted unanimously Tuesday, March 21, 2023, to rename Sawyer International Airport to Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport. This name change is part of a full re-branding project already underway. This will include a new logo and color scheme that will complement the many new changes for the airport, including the new terminal reconfiguration project.

In 1999, Sawyer International Airport officially opened and was soon a strong economic force in the central Upper Peninsula and has continued to benefit the surrounding communities.
