Marquette, Michigan – Celebrating 11 years of play reading, Readers Theater invites all alumni of the group to join in a reading of “Waiting for Godot” on Thursday, March 21 at 7:00pm in the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room. The Samuel Beckett play was the first script read by the group back in 2002.
A seminal work of 20th century drama, Beckett’s first professionally produced play is a comical wordplay of poetry, dreamscapes, and nonsense, which has been interpreted as a somber summation of mankind’s inexhaustible search for meaning. Beckett’s language pioneered an expressionistic minimalism that captured the existentialism of post-World War II Europe. Waiting for Godot remains one of the most magical & beautiful allegories of our time.
Refreshments will be served. Readers Theater is a group of adults, who are interested in drama and are willing and able to read a scripted role. They meet on the third Thursday of each month to read plays for enjoyment. New readers are always welcome.
