UPCM has New “Pedal Power” Exhibit May 20, 2022

The Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum (UPCM) is pleased to announce the installation of a new interactive exhibit demonstrating energy, electricity and fun!  By converting mechanical energy from pedaling into electrical energy, the new “Pedal Power” exhibit educates through physical activity and friendly cooperation.

“Children are going to love working together to generate enough electricity to light the LED tower.  The Ann-Arbor Hands-On Museum really nailed it,” said Carie Roberts, Exhibits Creator, UP Children’s Museum.

“When thinking about education opportunities, it’s easy to remember the positive impact that the Children’s Museum has on our local community.  We are happy we were able to collaborate with our Energy Optimization partners and the UP Children’s Museum to be able to provide an updated energy exhibit to educate the next generation,” said Toby Smith of the Marquette Board of Light and Power.

This project allowed the UPCM to collaborate for the first time with the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum to design, fabricate and install the exhibit.  “We are so pleased with the design and execution of the exhibit that the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum was able to produce,” said Nheena Weyer Ittner, Executive Director, UPCM. “We thank the generous support of the Energy Optimization Program and look forward to the many smiles Pedal Power will generate”
