Tuba Christmas Sunday December 5 2021

After missing a year, the annual Marquette TUBACHRISTMAS event is back and will be entertaining the community on Sunday afternoon, December 5, 2021.

Tuba and euphonium players will perform at two locations; the first one is free and open to the public:

• 1:30 PM at the Marquette Regional History Center, 145 W Spring St, Marquette
• 3:00 PM at Mill Creek Senior Living Community (for residents only)

Every Christmas season, tuba and euphonium players of all ages and across many geographic locations gather to play Christmas carols for appreciative audiences. This year, concerts will occur in hundreds of cities throughout the United States and several foreign countries.

Every TUBACHRISTMAS performance features traditional Christmas carols arranged for the first TUBACHRISTMAS, December 22, 1974 on “The Rink at Rockefeller Center.” That concert was organized by the great tubist, Harvey Phillips, and carols were specially arranged by famous American composer, Alec Wilder. In the 47 years since that first concert, the warm, rich organ-like sound of the tuba-euphonium choir has won the ears and hearts of every audience. It is no wonder that TUBACHRISTMAS has become an established Christmas tradition in Marquette, as well as cities throughout the world.

Audience members will be required to wear masks in the History Center, and the performance will also be live-streamed by the Peter White Public Library on their Facebook page for those not comfortable with participating indoors.

Tuba and Euphonium players who are interested in participating can get all the necessary information at www.tubachristmas.com.
