Cleveland Cliffs has announced the temporarily idling of the Tilden Mine in Marquette County due to market changes from to impact of COVID-19. The company is also temporarily closing down their Northshore Mining operation in Minnesota. The Tilden will be idled by the end of this month with a planned restart in July. About 850 people work at the Tilden and about 160 are expected remain on the job to maintain the facility and be on fire watch.
