2019 Downtown Summer Concert Series Returns June 12th

Sault Ste Marie, MI – Downtown Sault Ste. Marie is delighted to announce the return of its annual Music in the Park summer concert series. Music in the Park, now in its 22nd season, will kick off June 12th and continue every Wednesday through August in the Soo Locks Park. Concerts are free to attend; however, donations are always welcomed to help cover the series. Entertainment begins at 7PM.

A diverse selection of local and regional entertainment will perform tunes from a variety of musical genres ranging from traditional country, folk, rock, blues, original tunes and more! In keeping with tradition, Soo Theatre Project will begin the concert series, previewing selections from their upcoming theatre season. Returning favorites include: Petoskey Steel Drum Band, The Gordon Lightfoot Tribute, Night of Native Music, Gentleman George and The Pub Runners.

This year’s eleven week schedule will also welcome two NEW entertainment acts! Conga Se Menne will play Finnish Reggae music, along with re-arranged cover tunes. Closing out the concert series will be the highly anticipated group, The Good Cookies; delivering a number of rock, blues, R&B, and jazz selections.

Each year the Downtown Development Authority receives a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs which helps offset the summer’s concert series. Twenty-two local businesses and community partners also generously help pay for Music in the Park in addition to grants and crowd donations.
