MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN – The City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center invites members of the community to celebrate the arts by attending the 18th Annual Art Awards. Take the opportunity to honor outstanding individuals in our community at the MACC on Friday, May 30 at 7p.m.
There will be a celebratory reception before the Arts Awards in the lower level gallery of the Peter White Public Library from 6-7p.m. in conjunction with LSAA’s Annual Member Show, and the SmallWorks Gallery reception.
The Award Recipients are: Writer: Russ Thorburn, Upper Peninsula’s Poet Laureate Youth Award: Milo Birch, 10 year old original Composer and Pianist Visual Artist: Ritch Branstrom, Found-Object Sculptor Performing Artist: Eclettico, String Ensemble Community Arts Activist: Ann Russ, Ceramicist and co-organizer of the100dayproject Arts Educator: Shane Murray, Creator and director of Music For All Kids (MFAK) Arts Volunteer: Susan De Jong, Marquette City Band Board Member Special Recognition: Jason Limberg, Instructor and Draftsman Community Arts Impact: Grandparents Teach, Too, Non-profit outreach teaching program for grandparetns, parents and caregivers of young children Arts Business Honor Roll: Zero Degrees Gallery, Art Cooperative and “Art Gives Back” program founders
