Marquette, MI – This year, Girl Scouts throughout northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will be joining thousands of Girl Scouts across the nation during National Girl Scout Bridging Week, May 4–11. Bridging, when girls advance to the next level in Girl Scouts, is an important transition in a Girl Scout’s life, because it’s a defining moment when she becomes aware of her achievements and is ready for new adventures and responsibilities. It’s also a celebration of all she has achieved throughout the year, such as earning badges; completing Journey’s; and earning one of Girl Scout’s highest awards Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
This year Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes will be home to many bridging events throughout our area. These events promise to be fun and memorable for everyone involved.
Girl Scouts sets the gold standard in girl leadership development, building girls of courage, confidence, and character while they have so much fun! In every level Girl Scouts girls are tasked with learning life skills and helping the community. One Girl Scout said, “I learned that a simple task how goes a long way and helps my community and bigger ways. Every volunteer work I do helps others and I know they appreciate it. It helps me know that you don’t always have to get a reward for doing work sometimes the reward is simply just making another person feel less stressed about something.”
Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes (GSNWGL) partners with 5,000 volunteers, serves approximately 16,000 girls, covering 58 counties across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world. Our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop, and every year since, we’ve honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.
