The NMU Center for Native American Studies invites the public to a reception for the Waaseyaasibii'ige: Writing with Light Photography Project Friday, March 23rd from 6-8 p.m. at the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum on Baraga Street in Marquette. Inspired by the work of Jim Hubbard and Wendy Ewald, this project was designed to empower youth with their own voice. Youth were encouraged to capture cultural memory through images and words. Photographs on display will be by American Indian youth from the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, the Marquette Title VII Program and the Nah Tah Wahsh PSA in Hannahville. For more information, call 227-1397.
