‘Manufactured Memories’ Presentation at NMU – April 17

Marquette, Mich.– NMU’s Criminal Justice Department will present “Manufactured Memories: Victimization Ahead,” this Tuesday, April 17, in room 109 of the Edgar L. Harden Learning Resources Center from 6:30- 8:00 p.m. A live stream will be available at https://nmu.zoom.us/j/960860645.

“Manufactured Memories: Victimization Ahead,” demonstrates how a therapist can create the memory of a crime in a client, resulting in wrongful convictions of an innocent person.

Senior criminal justice student, Joan Roberts, will present her independent research. Two victims of false memory-based accusations will also participate. Mark Pendergrast, author of “The Repressed Memory Epidemic” and “Memory Warp,” will chat briefly via interactive video in efforts to expose the false nature of the counseling techniques and failures in the criminal justice process.
