Anderton’s Earth Week at NMU – April 16-20

Marquette, Mich.– NMU’s Earth, Environmental and Geographical Sciences Department will host its fourth annual “Anderton’s Earth Week” celebration April 16-20. The event honors the memory of the late professor John Anderton. All of the following activities are free and open to the public.

On Monday, April 16, a film titled “The Water Front” will be screened at 6 p.m. in 1320 Jamrich Hall. Popcorn will be provided!

On Tuesday, April 17, three different events will take place as part of the “Let’s Talk” series:

  • “Let’s Talk Sustainability” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m in the Academic Mall
  • “Let’s Talk Plants” at 11 a.m. in the Jamrich Lobby
  • “Let’s Talk Biophilic (Green) Design”, from 11 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. in 3710 West Science.
    Each event is presented by students from the Introduction to Sustainability class.

In addition to the “Let’s Talk” series,  free bike tune-ups will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Academic Mall. A film titled “Disruption” will be offered at 6 p.m. in Mead Auditorium in West Science. Popcorn will be provided!

On Wednesday, April 18, a film titled “Disobedience” will be screened at 6 p.m. in 1320 Jamrich Hall. Popcorn will be provided.

On Thursday, April 19, the final event of the “Let’s Talk” series will take place. Christine Deloria, member of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, will give a presentation titled “This Earth Day – What’s Your Story?” from 11 a.m. – 12:40 p.m. in the Mead Auditorium. A Trivia Night will be offered at 6 p.m. in 2902 West Science. Popcorn and prizes will be offered.

On Friday, April 20, a Career Panel Discussion with environmental employees will take place from 1-3 p.m. in 3710 West Science.
