Marquette, Mich.– Marquette Senior High School AP Biology and AP Spanish students and teachers (Patrick Reilly, Katelyn Jensen, and Wendy Hill Manson) will be traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico and the surrounding area for a service learning experience.
They leave March 31st and return April 7th. There will be 40 students traveling to help with hurricane relief at an orphanage and a middle school. The students will also be experiencing the culture and beauty of the island.
The AP Spanish students will be staying in homes for a full immersion into the language and culture. The days are filled with many new educational experiences such as visiting a tropical rain forest, beach clean up, snorkeling, visiting the world’s largest single-aperture telescope (Arecibo Observatory), and touring the Governor’s home (La Foraleza). The students have been collecting helpful items that they will donate to the orphanage (games, toys) and the middle school (school supplies).
