Church Women United invites area women to join in a celebration of World Community Day at noon Friday, November 2 at First Presbyterian Church, 120 N. Front Street, Marquette. A soup and bread lunch will be served, followed by a program, “Embracing Justice Under God’s Tent.” In keeping with the program’s challenge to understand and meet the needs of refugees, immigrants and the homeless, Helen McCormick of the St. Vincent DePaul Society will speak on the new homeless shelter project, “Room at the Inn.” Participants are asked to bring bedding for single beds or towels for the homeless.
