Designated driver “cab cards” will be distributed by Northern Michigan University health promotion office staff, nursing students and other volunteers on Thursday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the corner of Front and Washington streets in downtown Marquette. The wallet sized cards contain the names and phone numbers of local cab and limo companies. The rides are not free, but they are a safe option to those attempting to return home after consuming alcoholic beverages. A shared cab ride is about $10. A typical fine for driving under the influence is $1,000.
