The Forest Roberts Theatre at NMU will hold community-wide auditions for its annual Christmas production of “Ebenezer Scrooge.” Auditions will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 20 in the NMU Black Box Theatre (McClintock Room 105), and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 21 at Forest Roberts Theatre. There will not be callbacks. This new version of Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” features a script and lyrics by Denise Clark and music by Jeff Bruning. Five performances will be presented December 6 through 9. This is a special benefit production, with all proceeds going to the First Nighters Club theater booster organization. Children need not have prepared material. They will be taught a song and may have the opportunity to read at auditions. Adults should prepare a 60 to 90 second cutting from any traditional Christmas carol or a Broadway musical show tune. An accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning may wish to re-read the Dickens book or view one of the many film versions. Acting scenes will be provided at auditions. For more information, call the theater at 227-2553.
