Gwinn – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning and Northern Michigan University’s Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center will host a bus tour of the former K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base on Thursday, March 22 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Attendees will meet at the Marquette Mall by Pizza Hut.
Beaumier Center Director Daniel Truckey and K.I. Sawyer Air Heritage Museum president Bob Vick will lead the tour. The tour will include many sites, such as the actual operations area, housing complexes, recreational facilities and the K.I. Sawyer Air Heritage Museum.
The cost is $3 for NCLL members and $8 for non-members, plus $1 for the bus driver. Register by Wednesday, March 14 by calling 227-2979. Call Caroline Jordan at 228-9953 for more information.
