shpeming – The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will offer a free beginning rockhounding class for ages 8 and older on Sunday, July 28 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum in Ishpeming.
Participants will learn how and where to collect specimens and to identify minerals by using hands-on experience with actual specimens. All youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Attendees will receive specimens to help start their own collections, and will view hundreds of specimens in the museum itself. Information will be provided on the club’s upcoming show on August 3 and the field trips offered before and after the show.
