The U.P. Childrens Museum will offer an Explainers training session for youths ages 8 to 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 7. Pizza will be served. A parent or caregiver must be present from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Explainers are youth volunteers who learn about service and leadership through assisting in the museum, helping guests better understand the exhibits, giving input on improving exhibits, helping plan and host special events, showing and caring for the museums animals, assisting in the museum store and more. The Explainers work closely with museum staff members, who serve as mentors. The Explainers program is free. Training sessions for new members are offered on the first Friday of each month.
