The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will offer “About U.P. Gold and Jewelry: Wattson and Wattson” on Wednesday, March 12 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Wattson and Wattson Jewelers, 118 W. Washington Street in Marquette. Ron Wattson will give a brief history of gold mining in the U.P. including the Ropes Gold Mine in Marquette County. A demonstration of jewelry making, the tools used and how gold is cast will be included in the class, as well as a tour of the “underground mine” at the shop. Registration deadline is March 10.
