MARQUETTE – The Marquette Male Chorus surprised several local residents with musical Valentines. The serenades were thanks to donations given to the Chorus in exchange for songs of devotion and a bouquet of flowers.
The singers started Valentine’s Day at the Marquette City Hall. There they sang “Unchained Melody” to one of the staffers in the City Clerk’s Office. Both former city clerk Norm Gruber and former mayor Jerry Irby were singing in the Chorus. Gruber got a big hug from his former co-worker.
Later the choir made its way to the Marquette Medical Center, the Jacobetti Home for Veterans, The Shores Restaurant and finally the Landmark Inn for the grand prize – a mini-concert with an accompaniment on the Inn’s grand piano.
