‘Aperture’ Exhibit Opens at DeVos

MARQUETTE–Northern Michigan University’s DeVos Art Museum will present “Aperture: Photographs” from Jan. 22–April 1. The exhibition follows the evolution of the Aperture Foundation through a display of photographs from its print and fundraising programs made over a 50-year period. In the process, it charts the evolution of photography itself.

Aperture was formed in 1952, when a magazine was published to promote photography as an art form. In 1964, a limited-edition print program began in an effort to offer audiences the opportunity to own an original work. Today, Aperture is a multi-platform publisher and center for the photo community. It promotes photography by connecting the photo community and its audiences. The New York-based company produces, publishes and presents photography projects around the world.

DeVos hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday; noon to 8 p.m. Thursday; and 1-4 p.m. weekends. Admission is free.
