Marquette – The first-ever Peter White Public Library Adult Sip and Spell: A Spelling Bee for Cheaters will be held on Friday, February 23 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Masonic Center Ballroom on Washington Street in downtown Marquette.
This isn’t your average spelling bee–this is a CHEATER’S spelling bee! Contestants can purchase cheats to advance their game. Cheat prices range from $5 to $500 with cheats like skip a word, buy your way back in the competition, advance directly to final round (while wearing a bee suit for the duration of the event), 30 seconds with a dictionary, give word to an opponent and a probable favorite: make up your own word.
Team Sign-in starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Bee starts at 7 p.m. sharp. Teams of up to 4 people (ages 21 and over only, please) may register for $100 per team. Register online at: www.eventbrite.com or at the PWPL circulation desk, via email at heather@uproc.lib.mi.us or phone (906)226-4305.
Costumes are encouraged! A cash bar featuring Blackrocks Brewery selections, wine and soft drinks will be available. People over age 21 wishing to spectate and imbibe may attend for $15 admission payable at the door.
