The Cedar Tree Institute will sponsor a new monthly series of Tai Chi workshops beginning Saturday, January 5. The workshops will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Grace United Methodist Church, 927 W. Fair Avenue in Marquette. Cost is $25 per workshop. Tai Chi Chaun is a gentle Chinese exercise that is based on movements of animals and the natural world. Consistent practice of Tai Chi increases balance, boosts the immune system and reduces blood pressure. No experience is needed, and participants should dress casually. The Institute is a nonprofit organization that provides services and initiates projects in the areas of mental health, religion and the environment. For more information, call 228-5494.
