The Community Arts Center’s Holiday Open House and Parade of Confections will be held on Friday, December 14 from noon to 8 p.m. at the center, 126 Quincy Street in Hancock. There will be sing-along Christmas favorites with Tom Hiltunen from 3 to 5 p.m., live guitar music by members of the Copper Country Suzuki Association from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., and Keweenaw Krayons will provide a kids art activity from 4 to 6:30 p.m. A silent auction of art in the gift-giving range donated by local artists and a live auction of extraordinary desserts created by local gourmets will begin at 6:30 p.m. with auctioneer Ray Sharp. Sample some of the desserts included in the live auction, including Kathy Halverson’s famous cookie suite and Joan Chadde’s pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap pecan crust. Other desserts up for auction include a traditional yule log, flan, and chocolate bon bons. Silent auction items will be on display and can be bid on starting at noon.
