Calendar – Community – 12th Annual Cemetery Walk: World War I Remembered – June 1

Marquette – The 12th Annual Cemetery Walk: WWI Remembered will be held on Thursday, June 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. at Park Cemetery on 7th Street in Marquette.

To mark the 100th anniversary of WWI, hear the compelling stories of local men and women who served both at home and abroad, such as Francis Bashaw who was killed by friendly fire, Richard Jopling ambulance driver, Robert Young, a naval pilot, Nurse Ida Erickson and several others. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten. Music of the period and taps will be heard as you are guided through the cemetery.

Park inside the cemetery gates. There is a $5 suggested donation. For more information, visit marquettehistory.org or call 226-3571.
