Marquette – The film “Paths of Glory” will be shown as part of the World War I Remembered film series on Monday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Released in 1957, this war drama starring Kirk Douglas, Ralph Meeker and Adolphe Menjou, takes viewers to 1916 France, where the French army is ordered to capture the Anthill despite the high chance for failure. Personal glory trumps any regard for the lives of the battlefield soldiers, leading to death, mutiny and legal battles. This film which is not rated and runs for 1 hour and 28 minutes. Feel free to bring your own dinner and enjoy the movie in a dinner theater setting.
“World War I Remembered” is a community commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the U.P.’s involvement in World War I and is made possible in part by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
