Marquette – The NMU Jazz Festival will open with a free concert featuring The NMU Dixieland All-Stars and the Republic-Michigamme School Jazz Band on Thursday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall at NMU. Regional high school and middle school jazz bands will participate in clinics and performances from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 7.
Trumpeter Chase Sanborn, an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, will be the featured guest artist at the Festival. He will perform the closing concert with the NMU Jazz Band and Jazz Combo on Friday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Kaufman Auditorium. Sanborn will also lead guest artist clinics from 11-11:50 a.m. and 4-4:50 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall.
Tickets are $6 for NMU students, $8 for other students and $12 for the general public. They are available at NMU EZ Ticket outlets.
