Marquette – A free screening of “Gallipoli” will be offered on Monday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Released in 1981, this historical drama tells the story of Archy Hamilton, a young Australian sprinter, who signs up for the ANZACS during World War I. Along with fellow sprinter Frank Dunne, he is sent to fight the Turks in the battle of Gallipoli.
The event is part of the “World War I Remembered” film series. Feel free to bring your own dinner and enjoy the movie in a dinner theater setting. There is no admission charge.
“World War I Remembered” is a community commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the U.P.’s involvement in World War I and is made possible in part by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
