Calumet – The Movie Magic Film Series will kick off with a screening of “Minions” on Wednesday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at the Calumet Theatre in Calumet.
The dungaree and goggle-wearing yellow sidekicks from the “Despicable Me” films are upgraded to leading-minion status as they set out to find a new master. Admission is $1 per person with fresh popcorn and concessions for sale. Kids 13 and under have a chance to win prizes including a bike.
Movie Magic Films are a summer favorite of area kids and their families as well as visitors who have a chance to experience the historic Calumet Theatre the way their grandparents did when it was a movie house. Additional Movie Magic Films on Wednesdays are “Big Hero 6” on July 13, “Inside Out on July 20, “The Croods” on July 27, and “Jurassic World” on August 3.
Funding for the Movie Magic Film Series is through a grant from the Keweenaw Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council and sponsorships from Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Walmart.
