Downtown Marquette New Year’s Eve Ball Drop – 12/31/16

Marquette, Michigan  – December 26, 2016 – Gather with family and friends to ring in 2017 at the 28th annual New Year’s Eve ball drop in Downtown Marquette on Saturday, December 31, 2016. Share in this true Marquette tradition and join in the countdown to midnight in its new location atop the Masonic Square Mall at 128-130 W. Washington Street. Double Trouble DJs have stepped up to take on the continuation of this tradition, but will add their own signature twists to the event. Special thanks to the Masonic Association for the generous use of their building. According to Mona Lang, Marquette Downtown Development Authority Executive Director, “This is a great event for the community and an exciting way to bring in the New Year.”

Event participants are reminded that the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop is a family friendly event. While the 100 block of W. Washington Street will be closed to traffic, the public is reminded that consumption of alcohol is not allowed in the public right of way. Bar and restaurant patrons are asked to consume any beverages inside of respective establishments before venturing out onto the streets.
The Marquette City Commission has generously waived the street closure and police protection fees to help bring this popular events to the community. The event is sponsored by the City of Marquette and the Marquette Downtown Development Authority.
Share in the magic of the twelfth strike marking the beginning of 2017 at this family friendly community celebration.
