Negaunee – The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning will tour Negaunee’s Carp River Gardens, the largest perennial garden in the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin region, on Thursday, July 14 beginning with participants gathering to carpool at 11 a.m. at Tadych’s Econo Foods in Marquette. Those wishing to drive themselves may do so.
The Carp River Gardens have been featured in “Lake Superior” and “Midwest Living” magazines and served as a favorite location for weddings and other special events. Owners Jim Somers and Mike Wirtanen will be available to answer questions during the self-guided tour.
A brown bag snack is recommended. The cost is $3 for NCLL members and $8 for non-members. Register by the July 6 deadline by calling 227-2979. For more information, contact class liaison Phyllis James at 225-1004.
