Escanaba – The U.P. Trappers Association will host the 54th annual Trappers Convention/Outdoor Expo Friday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, July 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.
Many trapping and outdoor experts will be on hand presenting demos, and providing information on proven methods for capturing animals. Learn how to prepare furs for market. Well-known professional fur handler Rich Clark will be on hand to show how to properly put up a variety of fur, share tips and techniques, which are sure to get the trapper top dollar for his or her catch.
There will be several buildings filled with vendors and many tailgaters will be on the grounds as well. Many dealers of outdoor equipment will be offering convention special prices. Swapping and trading items is also a convention tradition. There will be many interesting things for the ladies in attendance as well. For the kids there will be the Pocket Park Fishing.
There will be mini raffles, and food and refreshments will be available as well as camping on the grounds. On Friday evening there will be a dinner and dance. Dance and meal proceeds benefit the Escanaba High School Bowling Team. This is a family friendly event. Admission is only $5 for both days and kids under 16 are admitted free.
