Ishpeming – The Ishpeming Area Historical Society will hold its annual “Historic Places and Interesting Spaces” tour and fundraiser on Sunday, June 26 from noon to 5 p.m. in Ishpeming.
This year, they honor Jim Flaa, who helped develop the community we see today.
Flaa’s family home on Third Street and Ridge Street, the Ishpeming Post Office, (including the rarely seen 2nd floor), which is also celebrating its centennial, and Flaa’s church, Trinity Lutheran, celebrating 145 years on Ridge Street just east of 3rd Street,are all locations included in the tour. In addition, the impressive Dubinsky home on Michigan Street, half a block east of 3rd Street, will also be featured.
Tickets are a $10.00 donation. Visit the locations in any order; there are guides at each stop. The City’s gardens will also be featured. Refreshments will be available at Trinity Lutheran Church throughout the afternoon. Advance tickets are available at the Ishpeming Area Historical Society Museum on the 3rd floor, Gossard Building, Main Street Antique Mall in Ishpeming, and Midtown Bakery in Negaunee, and at all tour locations on the day of the tour.
