Marquette – The Upper Peninsula Youth Orchestra will present their Spring 2016 concert “Classical and Contemporary Titans” on Sunday, May 8 at 3 p..m. at Reynolds Recital Hall on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
Led by conductor Matthew Mitchell, the orchestra consists of middle and high school aged musicians from across the Upper Peninsula who are mentored by professional musicians from the area. The program includes arrangements from Mahler’s “Symphony #1” and an orchestral arrangement of selections from the film score “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.”
Admission for the concert is free and donations will be accepted at the door to help provide scholarships and educational resources, such as music rentals, for the orchestra.
