Calendar – Education – Life in the Civil War Program – May 12

Marquette – Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War members and historians James A. Strain and Thomas K. Spencer talk about the military, the importance of the music of the period and what a soldier’s life was like during the American Civil War on Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.

The Civil War (1861-1865) was America’s bloodiest conflict with unprecedented violence that shocked the world. Over one hundred and fifty years ago the United States was rebuilding after the war during the time known as the Reconstruction Era, beginning during the war with the Emancipation Proclamation of January 1, 1863 and continuing on until 1877.
