Marquette – The Scholar Series at the Peter White Public library will feature Patricia K. Cianciolo, PhD, with a discussion of her research titled “Nuclear Weapons to Nature Preserves: The Legacy of Making Atomic Weapons for Workers, Families, and Communities” on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the library.
The Manhattan Project led to large-scale U.S. nuclear weapons production during the 1950s though 1990s at over 350 sites nation-wide. This was often done without the knowledge of its hazardous effects on workers, families, and communities.
Professor Cianciolo will talk about her own research about Fernald, and the experience of workers and survivors who have applied for compensation under the EEOICPA program.
There is no admission charge to attend the lecture. For more information call 226-4318 or visit www.pwpl.info.
