Marquette – The Culinary Students of Northern Michigan University will host their annual Chili Challenge on Tuesday, March 29 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the NMU Jacobetti Complex.
The proceeds will benefit Beacon House, specifically its fresh food program, which provides fresh, healthy food for low-income guests. Admission for the tasting is $7 for the general public and $5 for NMU students with ID.
This event has drawn as many as 24 chili entries in the past, with some unusual samples including kangaroo chili, a vegan spin, breakfast chili and Caribbean, along with variations of traditional entries. Teams of local judges will evaluate each category. Prizes are awarded for the best use of heat, most original chili and best overall.
