Marquette – The DocuMonday film series will offer a screening of the film “For No Good Reason” on Monday, January 4 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Actor Johnny Depp introduces viewers to seminal British artist Ralph Steadman, whose surreal, often confrontational artwork is frequently associated with Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, exploring the Steadman’s views on the connection between life and art. Steadman rose into prominence in the early 1970’s when his humorous, insightful and visually stunning work caught the public eye in the press and popular culture publications.
Filmed over the course of 15 years, “For No Good Reason” captures the conversations between Depp and Steadman which reach into the heart of what makes this artist tick, his friendships and fallings out, his love for art and his passion for civil liberties.
“For No Good Reason” is a multiple film festival award nominee and was released in 2012. It is rated R and runs for 98 minutes. There is no admission charge.
