Marquette, Michigan – November 9, 2015 – First United Methodist Church on Ridge Street in Marquette will be offering a free Thanksgiving Community Meal on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 5:00pm – 6:30pm. The Thanksgiving meal will feature a home-made Thanksgiving feast including turkey, dressing and all the traditional favorites.
The community meal is organized and prepared once each month by volunteers and church members and is available to the general public at no cost.
The purpose of the community meal is to provide community members with a home-cooked, free meal. Donations are collected each month during church services to offset the costs of this event.
“Thanksgiving is a time to be together with family and friends and to be thankful for our many blessings,” said Rev. Kristi Hintz, pastor at First United Methodist Church. “The community meal provides the opportunity for our church to fulfill a need in the Marquette community and to provide a special dinner during the Thanksgiving holiday.”
Community meals have been offered for the past 11 years at First United Methodist Church. First United Methodist Church is located in Marquette across from the Landmark Inn. Sunday Services are held weekly at 9:00am and 11:15am.
