Marquette, Michigan – November 2, 2015– The Marquette Senior High School Fine Arts Department presents “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” as its fall musical! Directed by Susan Candey, with Choreography by Jill Grundstrom, Music Direction by Janet Brodersen and Orchestra Direction by Eric Marta.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” is a Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical comedy by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert, based on Shepherd Mead’s satirical self-help book of the same name.
Set in the early 1960s in New York City, a young window washer, J. Pierrepont Finch played by Kees Gray uses a little handbook called “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” to climb the corporate ladder from lowly mailroom clerk to high-powered executive, tackling familiar but potent dangers such as the boss’ whiny nephew Bud Frump played by Robert Smedman, the aggressively compliant “company man,” the office party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction, and his true love, Rosemary played by Sophie Shahbazi. With a beloved score by Frank Loesser, numbers from the show include the fun and wacky “Coffee Break” and “Brotherhood of Man” – a rousing 11th hour number that unites the business executives.
Performances will take place at 7:00pm on November 5-7, 2015 in Kaufman Auditorium 611 N Front St, Marquette, MI 49855.
